Lab-To-Table Meat: The USDA Approves The Sale of Franken-Chicken in the USA
They want you to believe this is the future... I sure hope not
Farm-to-table could be a thing of the past someday as the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has approved the first ever lab-grown chicken for sale in the country by two companies: Upside Foods and Good Meat. Are we at all surprised? Remember they are messing with our produce, too. Some suggest that there is a demand for this Frankenstein meat because of an increase in world population however, others have been saying there’s a decline in fertility? I wonder if we might be declining in population then? We may never know as there is no way to prove how many people are actually on the planet. Another opinion is that lab grown meat is necessary to decrease traditional farming because of “the cow farts creating too much co2” as well as the large factory farms’ contribution to pollution.
Lab grown meat is also known as cultured or cell-based meat. The meat is made from cells from a living animal, a fertilized egg or a “special bank of stored cells” and cultivated in steel tanks. It’s basically a science project. It’s made through a process of cultivating animal cells in a lab… yes a scientific lab rather than raising meat the “old-fashioned” way that has worked for thousands and thousands of years. There are groups of people who actually want to make raising animals for food a thing of the past apparently. Scientists extract a small sample of cells from an animal and then “grow” them in a curated environment which give the cells the chance to form muscle tissue. It looks pretty identical to conventionally produced meat but there’s no need for farming or slaughtering.

San Francisco-based start-up, Eat Just, is leading the charge for the lab to table chicken. There was a lot of testing and experiments done to ensure the safety and quality of the fake chicken before it was granted approval to be sold to the public. However, who did these tests? What was their criteria? How long of a period were these tests carried out? Are there long term effects from eating this Frankenstien meat? Do we trust these results? The FDA says that artificial food colorings and high fructose corn syrup are okay to eat. They allow trisodium phosphate in cereals and bread. They allow weed killer aka glyphosate to be sprayed on our crops and the bass-ackwards thing is ORGANIC food is the exception whereas the conventional crap is the norm. They even allow Apeel Sciences to coat our produce to make it last longer. It’s mind blowing but at the same time when you look at who is in charge of BIG Ag, BIG Pharma, BIG Food and all the other BIGS … at the end of the day it all comes down to money. Money is all that matters. It’s cheaper for them to sell you fake ingredients. It’s cheaper for them to add fillers and fake colors to foods. It looks prettier when they add green food coloring to the pickle jar so that your pickles look extra nice and green. Your health does not matter… enter fake, lab to table, science project, Frankenstein’s meat. The funny thing is, it actually is more expensive at the moment than REAL chicken but they hope in time to get the cost down.
I hope we can all agree that they (whoever you’d like to think “THEY” is referring to) need to stop messing with our foods. Raising animals to feed our families is something that has worked since the beginning of time (well, after Adam and Eve screwed it all up and ate the fruit).
I guess I have to bring up Mr. Bill Gates again to say that he praises companies like Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods (plant-based meat companies) that make burgers and chicken alternatives for those who choose to be vegan and live a plant-based lifestyle. He says that people will most likely not choose to remove meat from their diet so options like Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods are necessary to lower meat consumption. (source) The problem with companies like Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods is the ingredient list. They are filled with a long list of seed oils, weirdo flavors, and GMOs, whereas regular, old-school beef contains ONE single ingredient… BEEF.
Interesting that in February of 2021, Bill Gates is even on record saying that “All rich countries should move to 100% synthetic beef.” (source) Well now with the approval from the USDA we have lab grown chicken on the market. I can only hope that it’s actually labeled as fake chicken at the very least. Supposedly the USDA will inspect these cultured meat facilities, just as it does traditional meat processing plants and slaughterhouses and the meat produced by will be labeled as “cell-cultivated chicken” when sold to consumers.
What’s the solution?
Don’t buy this lab grown chicken. Support your local farmers for all your produce and meat needs. Visit a farmer’s market and see what options you have for organic, grass-fed meat and don’t create a demand for fake, made-in-a-lab chicken.
Will you be eating this lab-grown chicken?
